Stevens Point wins Wisconsin boys title at cross country - TwinCities.comPublished by
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis.—Led by senior Nate Hatton's 10th-place finish, the Stevens Point boys scored 76 points to claim the boys Division 1 title at the WIAA State Cross Country Championships at The Ridges Golf Course on Saturday. The title was the ninth for the Panthers and their first since 2003. Tomah senior Derek Storkel won the individual title with a time of 15 minutes, 26 seconds. In Division 2, Tomahawk claimed its first championship since 1977 with 78 points, 10 better than runner-up Waukesha Catholic Memorial. Port Washington, the 2007 state champion, had senior runners Mark Allen and Evan Ross finish 1-2 individual with identical times of 15:55. Individual champion Josh Mulloy held Cedar Grove/Belgium to the runner-up finish in Division 3, as Webster captured the gold trophy with a team score of 83 points.
